Anyway, just to share my thoughts about Maris Stella High School. Next week will be my last official week in school. The teachers are good, but nevertheless, good teachers get rated 'bad' most of the time by, in my eyes, bad students. Just look at poor Mr Varella:
You can say how sucky he is for all i care, but his son Bjorn Varella is the TOP EURASIAN STUDENT for the ENTIRE PSLE COHORT! I'm sure Mr Varella has played a major role as a father to nurture his son into an excellent student! So don't give me this bullshit that he sucks. In fact, if you think so, you suck too.(hey..its in my eyes right?)
Looking at how Mr. Kwok desires for the school's L1B5 to go down, I too share his desire but it is quite a long way from where we are now.
The Singapore education system is designed to breed elite students and only the 'cream of the crop' are nurtured into key positions into goverment service. (what i learnt in SS) However this is simply not occurring in our school. We're like most schools in fact...XYZ Secondary School...you name it.
Some students are hooligans who dont care a f**k about their studies so its their problem. I have a goal in life, and i am going to achieve it. I am not letting down my past 10 years of education and let it all go to waste.

Firstly, i recognise that Mr Kwok is really doing all the best he can to try to improve the school's image as well as the study environment for all students.
Using him as an example, we have an excellent teacher-cum-motivator for all of us. The teachers are not at fault.
The very fault lies in ITS STUDENTS. People who are always rebellious..and also those who take their studies as a joke.(XYZ Secondary school remember?)
I even get opressed for trying to do well in my exams. In such an environment where the idea of trying to "do better, become smarter" is oppressed, how on earth is MSHS's L1B5 going to go down?!!!!
The way i see it...if it continues, it will go up.
So Mr Kwok, i just hope you know of what's going on amongst some of the students in MSHS and you will be able to recify the fault. Changing the attitude of students is of course an uphill task, but if you dont try you never know...
That being said, my ideas may be flawed. Im an non-smart elitist after all.
